Many members have expressed their frustration and anger at the tone deaf communication released by Sydney Trains on Thursday.
In their update, Sydney Trains made a number of assertions. We respond to each below with the truth:
“The Combined Rail Unions raised concerns relating to ongoing investigations of conduct issues with a small number of our employees.”
Your delegates raised the targeting of several delegates and demanded that any investigation be ceased immediately. If Sydney Trains was going to target delegates, the required relationship to bargain did not exist and the meeting would be cancelled.
These matters are not directly related to enterprise agreement negotiations.
All of the matters raised regarding the targeting of delegates was directly related to the taking of strike action on 28 September 2021.
We expect our employees to demonstrate behaviour that is respectful to others at all times.
This statement is disingenuous considering the behaviour of several managers prior to, the day of, and the days following the strike action. There seems to be one rule for them and one for us. That is not good enough and we won’t accept it.
Industrial action remains the best way that we can exercise our industrial power. It’s unfortunate that Sydney Trains and NSW Trains have behaved in such a way that necessitates us exerting ongoing and constant pressure. We are, and will remain, committed to achieving the best outcome for members, and we know all members will take as much action as it takes to make management respect us.
