NSW Trains Bargaining Meeting Update

22 October 20221

On Thursday 14 October, we again met with NSW Trains at the virtual bargaining table. This meeting comes after significant industrial action taken by members, with further action planned for the next few weeks.

At the meeting, NSW Trains responded to several of your claims. There are many more claims that still have to be put to both Sydney Trains and NSW Trains. Hopefully the employers agree to sit down with all of your delegates soon to hear the balance of your log of claims. We have set out some of the responses below.

You may have noticed that there are not a lot of “Yes” responses in that list. This is normal for this stage of negotiations, don’t be disheartened.

As members’ industrial action continues, and negotiations progress further, it is likely many of NSW Trains responses will change. Ultimately the enterprise agreement will not be made until a majority of NSW Trains employees vote it up.

The energy members have shown in their enthusiastic take up of this industrial action campaign should make the employers, Transport for NSW, and the NSW Government stop and think about their continued refusal to accept your claims.

In the meantime, keep speaking to each other about the log of claims and what is important to you and those you work with. Let your delegate know that you’re behind them and you have their support. Your delegates are working hard to ensure we achieve the best possible agreement.
