EA Update: Everyone is voting NO!

12 March 2021

Dear Members,

Starting on March 22, Members will have the opportunity to tell the NSW Government what they think of their proposal to roll over your EA in exchange for a paltry 0.3% pay rise.

The RTBU, after surveying members and speaking to Delegates is recommending members vote NO!

Across the network members are talking to each other and locking in the no vote. Only by standing together can we force management and the NSW Government to the bargaining table.

We know there is a lot of information floating around so we have put together this fact sheet which outlines what is proposed and what it means for members.

You can also download and print Vote NO flyers and posters from Loco Expressand RTBU Express.

Sydney Trains and NSW Trains are acting on instructions from the Government and are desperate to get their workforce to agree to their roll over variation.

Members have reported that on the Vero voting presentation on the intranet a question was visible that said. “Do you vote in favour of your Enterprise Agreement?  Reply Yes or No.”

We do not know if this is the question management are planning on asking but this information, in any format is, at best, confusing.  The Combined Rail Unions have written to management at NSW and Sydney Trains seeking clarification and a guarantee that this will not be the question asked.

We will update members when we get a response.

When you do have the opportunity to vote make sure you read the question thoroughly and if you are unsure speak to your Organiser, Delegate, or the Union office before you vote.

Members should now have received voting information either via email or in the post. If you have not received information on how to vote it is vitally important that you get in contact with your manager and request this information.

Three things you can do this week:

  1. Download and print some of our Vote No material.
  2. Talk to your workmates and check they have received the voting information and are voting No.
  3. Update your details with the RTBU and your employer that way you can get everything you need to Vote No.
  4. Read the FAQ sheet and if you have any other questions speak to your Organiser or Delegate.

We will be in touch next week with more details.

In Solidarity,
