Dear Members,

Your combined delegates sat into the night yesterday with Sydney Trains, NSW Trains, and Transport for NSW for the second day of intensive bargaining. It was a long day where each Division of the Union put their specific EA claims to the rail entities.

Yesterday demonstrated the commitment of your delegates to this bargaining period and their resolve to get the best deal possible for all members.

The claims we put forward yesterday were:

  1. The need for a wholesale review of disciplinary processes utilised by the rail entities. To refresh your memory, our claim is here at page 21.
  2. Our claim to improve the disputes resolution procedure. You can find our claim here at page 21.
  3. Claims for Section 2 of the Agreement covering Salaried Employees. You can find the claims here.
  4. Claims for Section 3 of the Agreement covering Fleet Maintenance Wages Grades. You can find the claims here.
  5. Claims for Section 4 of the Agreement covering Station Staff, Drivers, Guards, On-Boarders, Area Controllers, LICs Operators, and Signallers. You can find the claims here.

Once again, we made significant progress and it shows the benefits of having senior decision makers and your delegates in one room. The solidarity shown by delegates across the CRU was on show again keeping the unions on the front foot in these negotiations.

Today, we’ll be putting Section 5 claims to the rail entities. After that we’ll start to hear the Employers responses to the claims and get into negotiating each claim.

Sydney Trains are yet to provide the unions with their full log of claims. We wait with baited breath.

We will continue to update you on the progress of these negotiations.

In Unity,
