we will bargain together

20 September 2021

Dear members.

On Wednesday 22 September from 0001hrs, there will be a 24 hour network-wide ban on overtime.

This is our first action involving the whole of the RTBU membership in NSW and Sydney Trains during this action period. This is our opportunity to make sure our voices are heard, and for the employers to feel the full weight of our collective strength.

Throughout the pandemic, Members have ensured the network continued to run in a safe and efficient manner for the traveling public.

Sadly, the thanks we get from Senior Executives and the Government is a measly offer of a 0.3% pay increase and the threat of removing a raft of hard-fought and won conditions including our redundancy deed.

Senior Executives keep saying how much they appreciate us, but we know this is far from the truth. If they truly appreciated us, they would recognise and respect the hard work of Members.

Members have told us overwhelmingly that they are ready to fight for the fair deal and respect that they deserve.

The time has come for Rail Workers across Sydney and NSW Trains to draw a line in the sand, stand together with their fellow members, and refuse overtime for the entire day as part of our escalating industrial action.

What does an overtime ban look like?

An overtime ban involves refusing to attend work for overtime shifts or performing

Extension of Shift overtime as a form of industrial action.

When: 00.01hrs on Wednesday 22 September 2021 until 00.01hrs on Thursday 23 September 2021
